The Hobknobs – “Dictonary”
by Andy
Another sweet, wistful wobble out of The Hobknobs today. The band brings together Lewsberg’s Arie van Vilet with Yaël Dekker of The Klittens. A lighter touch than either of their anchors, The Hobknobs creeps into view on ringing guitars and the soft tangle of the duo’s vocals. The songs revel in ambience and space, exemplified nicely by new single “Dictionary.” The song stretches within the confines of its space. It reclines through the halls of post-punk and pop with a slinking satisfaction. The cut originally cropped up on a comp for A Colourful Storm over the winter, but this version expands the earlier version with a bittersweet twist. The band’s upcoming debut, Helmets Off, is out June 26th from 12xU.
