Bullseye – Bullseye EP
There’s been plenty of cosmic country revival and Canyon crooner revisits, but the current wave of the genre has still has a slight dearth of dig into the ‘90s grit that grew at the edges of Country. With The Byrds in mind, Gene Clark on the CD in the Civic, and a hunger in the amps; NYC-by-way-of Minnesota outfit Bullseye find some comfortable company with Country Westerns, Loose Koozies, and Florry. I’ve always been a bit of s sucker for suturing a bit of fuzz into the formula for country ramble and on their new EP, the band bundles heartache and hubris into a dented and dusted vision of country with a rock heart. Bullseye lets twin guitars tangle around the listener, threading barbed wire riffs through a little Midwest malaise and melancholy. The band may have moved East, but they brought the spirit of Minnesota with them. Don’t let this one slip by in a year packed with heat.
