With a new label behind them, Philly’s 2nd Grade keep their buoyant power pop in tact. Their first single since 2024’s high water mark Scheduled Explosions, “Cellophane Girls” continues to comb through the ‘90s visions of pop for inspiration, pinning a winding narrative to clean-lined guitars and crisp choruses. Hints of Velvet Crush, Fanclub, and BMX Bandits push the new single towards the band’s most memorable, an earworm that latches tight and won’t let go.
