The TSG – Skydiver EP

Still one of the best kept wells of UK indie, Gob Nation offers up a new EP that brings together members of The Tubs, Sniffany & The Nits, Bloody Death, and more. Lead by Taylor Stewart, The TSG lobs a pop grenade into the ball pit, scattering chords and colors across the horizon. Barely tied down with the bounds of indie pop, the three songs that make up “Skydiver” are singed by punk’s heat, bolstered by power pop, and irradiated by the legacies of indie rock’s best years. Guitars flare and flame, the drums race the listener, and Stewart and his assembled crew lacquer pop hooks over the fray with astounding ease. It’s a blink and you miss it collection of songs, never breaking past the 2 1/2 minute barrier, but making plenty of use of their boisterous brevity. The EP arrives with little context and hardly enough fanfare, but it’s packed with a trio of tunes that’ll rattle around the head for the next few weeks to be sure.
