Foglights – “The Rain Felt Kind”

Another indie pop treasure out of Slumberland arrives this week. Featuring a name that cropped up continually last year, Foglights features Eva Cord (of The Cords) along side Archie aka Stone Anthem. Rolling down the speakers like rain on window panes; the first cut from the band’s debut EP is an overcast gem, dabbling in a bit of the blurred bliss of The Softies and the homespun charms of Opal’s early days. “The Rain Felt Kind” blows in on gentle breezes and doesn’t stick around too long before it’s whisked away by the very same soft winds. Hazed and glowing with a tenuous flicker, the song is a whisper, a subconscious sigh. It’s the kind of achingly sweet indie pop that’s too fragile for this world, destined to be lost in the folds of zines and rumored show reviews. The band’s new EP, Nous Deux, is out August 21st from Slumberland and Skep Wax.
