Woodwose – “Three Pines”
by Andy
Another single seeps out from the hidden hollows of the Woodwose’s debut. The Philly duo brings together keyboardist/flautist/vocalist Jessica Weeks (Magus, The Valerie Project) and guitarist/vocalist Gillian Chadwick (Ex Reverie, Rusalnaia) for a deep delve into acid folk that offers shades of ’04 and ’74 alike. Second single, “Three Pines” wanders further into the woods than the first, lacing the intro with flutes, fuzz guitars and the pair’s haunting vocals. Scarred by smoke and singed with a seance air that clears slightly as the song slips into its second half, the song builds to a rhythmic pound that taps with a ritual-ripe tattoo. The eponymous new record is out July 24th from Language of Stone.
