The Thorn – “La Pernette”

Been keeping tabs on The Thorn for a while now and the band never fails to bring a fresh take on UK/EU psych folk. This time the band tackles a cover of traditional French ballad “La Pernette” giving strong Trees / Pentangle / Fairport vibes to the tale of forbidden love. The band features a stacked roster of UK folk favorites, having evolved from Large Plants and taking on the name of their final album. Here Jack Sharp (Wolf People), Paul Milne (Hanging Stars, Green Seagull), and Itamar Rubinger (Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats), back the incomparable Naomi Randall who gives the song its haunting vocal. The new single is out now, but it feels like the first hint of Autumn on the way.
