Chrome Chasm – “The Star (Single Edit)”

Following a few singles over the last couple of years, Texas drone-psych outfit Chrome Chasm drapes news of a debut on the speakers along with a new song this week. Featuring RSTB mainstay Tom Carter (Charalambides) on guitar alongside fellow Texans Mlee Marie (Hearts Of Animals, Alien Eyelid) on alto saxophone, flute and voice and Will Adams (Lower Dens) n pedal steel, synth, and percussion. A textural affair, stretching out like vast desert expanses, the works of Chrome Chasm blend patient guitar work with Marie’s dreamlike embellishments. The first cut, “The Star,” is cut down from its towering 16+ minute album length for a compact version that still threads the listener through gossamer moments that bump ambient, country, jazz, and drone. The song floats through the air with a hazy humidity, landing between fever and fantasy. The new album, Interpreter, is out October 30th from Silver Current.
