The Sprouts – “Wish Again”

Another ace, shaggy jangler from Aussie outfit The Sprouts bodes well for the band’s new album on the way later in the month. Taking a page (or two) out of the Modern Lovers / VU playbook, the band excels at the kind of worn-kneed, indie ramble that slips between punk and folk with a slippery ease. The band features members from a deep bench of Aussie favorites, including Dippers, Chook Race, Ill Globo, Thigh Master, The Small Intestines and Permits. The band pairs the single with a found footage compilation of performances from ‘Bodybuilding Society’s Physique ’89: The National Gay and Lesbian Bodybuilding Championships at the Palace of Fine Arts, San Francisco, California’. The clip was edited and assembled by Becky Remedios. The band’s new album, Singin’ With The Sprouts, is out November 20th from Lost and Lonesome and Meritorio.
