Tom Henry – “Someone I Need”

A lean and limber bout of power pop lands today from recent favorite Tom Henry. The songwriter landed an instant classic around here with his last album, Songs To Sing and Dance To. He follows today with the first single from What’s Left. Album opener “Someone I Need” slips into the ‘70s school of power pop, leaving the sneer of the ‘80s and the crunch of the ‘90s behind. Big strums and bright horns push “Someone I Need” onto the speakers with a joyous jolt that’s underscored by just a touch of Memphis twang that pits its Rhodes/McCartney swing against shades of Big Star and The Hot Dogs. The new album is out November 20th from Royal Oakie.
