Tony Jay – “Faithless”

A little softness to start the descent into the end of the week. Today site regular Tony Jay returns with news of a vinyl version of Faithless, a record that was mostly available on the march table as a cassette for a recent Japanese tour. Ensconced in Ramos’ pillow-soft cloud of hiss, the record exemplifies the kind of gauzy caress that’s been building on the West Coast between bands like April Magazine, Cindy, and Flowertown. The quiet amble of title track “Faithless” wraps around the listener, a loving lament that’s full of the kind of restrained pining and patient dynamics that drove Les Rallizes Dénudés and Shizuka, both of which serve as inspirations here. The LP is out in a limited run (100 pressed, 45 in the US) on Mt. St. Mtn. On shelves July 2nd, so don’t linger too long.
