Woolen Kits – “Back of a Truck”

Woolen Kits is certainly a name I didn’t expect to hear on the dock for 2026. A staple around here in the mid 2010’s, the band’s been largely absent since their last great outing in 2012. Members have kept busy in the interim, cropping up in Constant Mongrel, Nun, The UV Race and other Aussie favorites, but they mount a surprise return this week. “Back of a Truck” is the first single off of an album more than a decade in the making. The band’s pop penchant remains, but their often stripped-bare bluster has gained a bit of a scrub-up on the new single. The Kits’ earlier albums were insistent, weaned on a school of Half-Japanese, TVP, and Beat Happening. They open up the doors to The Clean and The Bats on the new song, sparring big, buoyant strums and delightful hums against their reedy hooks. It’s been too long, but it’s great to have ‘em back. The band’s new album, Weather The Storm, is out November 20th from Anti-Fade.
