The Sprouts – “Cosmic Love”

The latest single from Aussie indie outfit The Sprouts digs ever deeper into the band’s post-Velvets / Modern Lovers laconic jangle. “Cosmic Love” reclines into strums, letting harmonies hang like smoke rings over the top of the track. The band features a lineup that culls from a cross-section of South-Hemi indie from the past few years, including Dippers, Chook Race, Ill Globo, Thigh Master, The Small Intestines and Permits, and that pedigree is infused into the new record. The new song slips in slow, sidling through a chug that’s unhurried and hang-dog, but they push the gas on the closing moments, finding an ecstasy somewhere in the storm of strums. The band’s new album, Singin’ With The The Sprouts, is out November 20th from Lost and Lonesome and Meritorio.
