Gnoomes – “Foreign Agent”

A buzzing, incandescent new track from Gnoomes charges the speakers this week. The Russian duo pairs the album with a move to Slovenia, never losing their penchant for cocooned pop and propulsive rhythms in the process. The band has characterized the move as not just political, but therapeutic; a decision for the mind as much as the body. “Foreign Agent” creeps in slowly, a buzzing nest of keys and vocal haze. The mood shifts midway, thickening the air with guitar growl. The band lays back into the arms of shoegaze, letting the listener get lost in their haze. It grows louder until it overwhelms in all the right ways. The band has laid out a guiding light for the new album — “Rave as therapy. Pop as resistance. Love as endurance. ADHD as a production technique.” The ethos creeps through the crevices of “Foreign Agent.” The new album, Losey, is out September 4th from Rocket Recordings.
