Dry Skull Dreams – “Gitano Blouse”

Another great cross-continental collaboration from the crew at El Paraiso. Last week I talked about Terramar, which brings members of Earthless into the fold. This week the band connects with longtime RSTB faves Sunburned Hand of the Man. What was born out of a 2014 collaboration between Causa Sui’s Rasmus Rasmussen and Sunburned’s Ron Schneiderman slowly gestated into a full-on record that expanded the lineup to four piece including fellow Sui alum Jakob Skøtt and Nicklas Sørensen (Edena Gardens, Papir). The band’s first volley is the sprawling psych of “Gitano Blouse.” Building tension over oil slick runs of guitar and Schneiderman’s tattoo of drums, the cut fits in nicely between the nocturnal squirm of Sunburned and the exploratory prog of Causa Sui. The band adopted the name of a Northeastern Horror novel and leans into their debut, A Toast to a Prayer on November 27th from El Paraiso Records.
