The Croaks – “Beast of Burden”

Coming to this one a little late but it pairs well with the folk furrows of The Tubs today. Massachusetts outfit The Croaks have a knack for digging into the blood beneath the dirt in folk, spinning vernal, seasoned tales that nip at tradition without feeling staid. Much like UK counterparts The Thorn and The New Eves, the band approaches the edge of folk’s buttoned down roots and slip a few twists of the knife into the formula. Fiddles saw at Anna Reidster’s wind-torn vocals as the band knits together an air of Appalachia and UK folk rock. The Boston band’s new single is out now from their Bandcamp. Keep a tab on them, they haven’t missed yet.
