Yr Knives – “Fear & Trimbling”

A few months ago I wrote about a tour CD from Yr Knives, the excellent new Chicago post-rock rippers who’d been on a tear opening for The Messthetics. The live cuts on that CD come to fruition on a new album for Western Vinyl, translating their electric presence to tape. First single “Fear & Trimbling” courses through the speakers with an elastic energy. Chewing on ragged riffs and the ravaged edges of jazz and post-rock, the band rides the knife edge of rhythm with an experimental air, making good on the bonafides of their packed roster. Check out the frenetic video for the single above. The band’s debut, Begin Yr Singing, is out October 30th from Western Vinyl.
