Winter McQuinn & Acacia Pip – “Exactly The Same”

Collaboration’s been good for RSTB fave Winter McQuinn. Following a string of solo record in his post-Sunfruits years, McQuinn began a fruitful string of collaborations that have given us Beefheart & McQuinn and last year’s packed offering, Where Are We Now?, but the run began back in 2024 with a quietly slipped out EP with Acacia Pip. The pair have an undeniable chemistry and Pip returned on last year’s collaborative LP to great effect. Now the pair have an EP slated for release this fall. The duo instantly hook listeners back in with the beautifully serene “Exactly The Same.” Surfing on a loping bass line, the song sings praises of consistency with just a touch of ennui. The last EP was born on homespun charms, but the new single is wrapped in the wondrous production that made Where Are We Now? such a treasure. The new EP, Disassociating On The Travelator, was recorded with Liam “Snowy” Halliwell at Bakehouse Studios and comes packaged with its predecessor as a double EP delight. The new record is out October 16th from Third Eye Stimuli.
