Bobby Lee – Peccadilloes

This one got away in the curve out of last week, but it bears further study under the light of Monday morning. Site favorite Bobby Lee has been curling out guitar missives that blend driftwood boogie with velvet painting prairie scenes; a concoction of country roughed up by study and circumstance. While he’s got a new studio record ripped and ready, Lee offers up a curio from the road while that bakes into shape at the plant. Recorded via the in-built microphone on a Tandberg Audio Tutor 771 cassette player, this collection is a blemished, yet revealing document of hotel rooms, backrooms, bedrooms, kitchens and porches. Improvisations that document the patchwork road to a new record, the collection comes across like Dead Man on the duvet. It’s corroded and clipped collection that ditches any sense of polish for an immediacy that’s enlightening, a look into Bobby’s process. The new collection, Peccadilloes, is out June 19th on cassette and digital.
