Aluminum – “Killing Time”

Happy to see this band back as I truly enjoyed their debut a couple of years ago. The Bay Area band still have a love for the deep delirium of shoegaze, but their newest single finds the burrowing further into the harder ends, bashing into the listener with insistent rhythms that bring to mind Swervedriver at their best. They don’t lean on the crutch of chaos alone, filtering a heavy dose of pop through the havoc of guitars and rhythms. The balance of pop and noise works well for Aluminum, snipping the savory parts of the‘90s for a single that sticks with the listener long after the nostalgia’s faded. The band’s new album, Iconoclast HaHa, is out this fall from Felte.
