Sweat – “Open My Eyes”

Another new cut from Pittsburgh’s ‘70s-stung sweethearts Sweat hits this week. The band taps into the kind of towering stage presence that would make a Rush fan blush and give hope to those who’ve been holding on since Heart was on the charts. They make it feel less like a complete nostalgia dip though, embracing the era of the riff with just enough jumpsuited swagger to catch the classic rock crowd, but balanced with a dirtiness that digs through the dollar bin of glam and early power pop. Keys forward, “Open My Eyes” is a prog-pop dream come to life. The cut opens the band’s new album, In Dreams, out soon from Tee Pee Records.
