Misha Panfilov – “When I See You (It Feels Wonderful)”

Another exemplary notch by Misha Panfilov into 2026. Following his collaboration with Tomo Katsurada (already a 2026 essential) the Estonian composer is back with a new album of breezy pastoral jazz, hopefully to help usher in a dip in temps. Featuring a heavy cast of players, including Ilja Gussarov, Leonid Galaganov, Sasha Petrov, Anna Dotsenko, Volodja Brodsky, Tomo Katsurada, and Joe Harvey-Whyte, the new album is a vernal spring of refreshment. The first single, “When I See You (It Feels Wonderful)”, is a lilting, dream-bent number that’s awash in flutes and the hammock-slung skitch of percussion. A few vibraphone accents from Brodsky take the song towards its final cool down. The new album, Where The Birds Fly, is out September 11th.
