Drew Gardner – “Holmdel Horn Antenna”

Drew Gardner’s a pretty familiar name around these parts already, being integral to both Elkhorn and The Heavy Lidders, but for the past few years Drew’s been solo (yet surrounded) for some of his own works. His latest brings a few more of those familiar names into the fold, including Tom Malach and Andy Cush of Garcia Peoples and studio secret ingredient Ryan Jewell on drums. “Holmdel Horn Antenna” hooks the listener into his new record for Eiderdown, a mix of slow-motion Afrobeat bristles, Cosmic American ambitions, and jam/jazz pedigree. The song finds Tom and Drew locked in a dialog of guitars ably underpinned by Cush and Jewell’s locked and limber rhythm section. The band hooks the listener in for the long haul, a slow-simmering journey that unfolds like night blooms under summer moonlight. The new album, Rabbit Ears, is out August 7th from Eiderdown.
