The Spook School – “Corporate Caring”
by Andy
Though beloved Scottish indie poppers The Spook School officially called it quits back in 2018, sometimes there’s just no keeping a good band down. They return this year with one of the most cohesive visions of their sound yet. With a re-invigorated crunch and their same wry humor, the band coats the new record in crinkle-cut riffs and a little bump of punk panache. The latest single is a prime example, with a churning tide of riff and rhythm behind it, the band skewers the hollow promises and placation of corporate PR. It’s a headrush hitter with an acid tongue to the insincere. The band’s new album, Like A Heartbeat, is out January 29th from Alcopop! And Slumberland.
