Softjaw – “Bad Disguise”
by Andy
It’s a pretty packed year for power pop with the bulk of the best leaning heavy on the soft touch and tender hearts of the first wave, before the bite of punk got its teeth into the genre. Alongside great releases from Tom Henry, The Goods, and Uni Boys this year, Softjaw offer up a new record that’s bountiful on the hooks and never slight on the swoons. The newest single from the record, “Poor Disguise” sways on a surge of strums and hums along on a blanket of harmonies. It’s a glittering, buffed-clean vision of power pop that’s hard to shake. The band pairs the cut with a new video animated by Dave Van Patten. The band’s new album, Love Can’t Kill You, is out next week on October 16th from Dandy Boy.
