Whitney’s Playland – “Bottled Lightning”
by Andy
Some amazing Monday news, longtime RSTB favorites Whitney’s Playland are back with a new 12”! The band kicks it off with the title track, “Bottled Lightning,” a hazy new cut that sharpens the focus on their pop sound. Fuming guitars with a fuzz crunch lead the way, opening space for Inna’s dream-glazed vocals. The song comes on like a quiet storm, a deluge of ‘90s-nipping growl culled from all the best corners. The band recorded the EP across their respective home studios, but it feels like a bump up from their more homespun early releases, gaining a little gloss over the grit. The new EP, Bottled Lightning, is out November 20th from Dandy Boy Records.
