The Goods – “Minor Key”

Last year The Goods set their hold on power pop with a sterling debut. The project of Rob Good (also of indie pop faves Ryli), the first record held tight to the handles of power pop tipped between ‘70s classics and ‘90s revivialists. The new record doesn’t lose its infatuation with those building blocks, but hooks harder into a sunshine strain that puts them into the power pop pocket with The Lemon Twigs, Uni Boys, and Danny Ayala. The first single was soaked in sun and marinated in melancholy. The second single continues those bittersweet sighs, a three-minute exhale looped in longing, “Minor Key” pairs Good’s penchant for pop with a insistent ache. The new single sits nicely on The Goods’ sophomore album, Goodbye Summertime, out September 16th from Dandy Boy Records.
