DUM1 – “Plastic Clovers”

Finding its footing somewhere between the slack end of the indie pop pool that’s been rising among SF and Oakland and an equally itchy ‘90s vibe, the new single from DUM1 saunters through the speakers with a sunburned bliss. Mack Narragan slips through the shadows of Paul Westerburg and Bob Pollard, but also hints at some of the loner pop charms that followed Eels, Self, and Ben Kweller around. There’s something just a touch more lived in here, something faded and torn like a favorite sweater that never seems to stay put in the donation box. With fellow members of CVCC helping him round out the sound, the first single from Narragan’s new album, On A Dime, skips on a bleary beat with the chime and churn of guitars pushing it along. The band’s new album slips out July 17th on the Bay Area’s Take A Turn Records.
