West of Roan have a way of crafting songs that feel like passed traditions — stories that slip from generation to generation on soft gusts of guitar and twined voices. Their new album, a collection of imagined myths centered around a figure they call The Queen of Eyes, turns their tales into a tapestry, a cradle for our cultural grief. “By All The Light” finds the pair heavy-hearted but buoyant, lifting their song up over a soft strum and the saw of strings.
