Tashi Dorji – “we will be wherever the fires are lit”

This year has seen a wealth of guitar soli treasures, but any list would be incomplete without Tashi Dorji. Following on his album, Stateless, the upcoming we will be wherever the fires are lit continues to mine discomfort and smelt it into something transformative. Dorji’s albums express unrest, turbulence, tension. They’re anxiety made manifest and torn through strings beset with preparations that make them buzz, hum, and wheeze. The title track from the upcoming LP drags the listener through the coals, exfoliates a layer of malaise and sets them back out into the world raw and ready to turn pain into progress. The new record is out November 22nd from Drag City and you can catch Tashi on tour with Six Organs of Admittance this month.
