Prison – “Eyes For Keys”
Drag City scorchers Prison are back for a 2nd installment of elemental itch that’s built to break the listener down and cobble ‘em back together with staples and cement. Like their past outings, the new single is grounded in groove, a low rumble that permeates the their pieces and seeks to shake the central nervous system from its moorings. “Eyes For Keys” sinks its teeth into the listener, snaking discordant riffs from Paul Major (Endless Boogie) around gnashed vocals from Sarim Al-Rawi (Liquor Store). The band drags their Guru Guru / Neu sonics through the dirt and dirge of the blown speaker blues of the ‘60s— soaked in the smoke of Blue Cheer, Pink Fairies, and early MC5. The band follows their album Upstate with Downstate (naturally), out January 31st.
