Dummy – “Nullspace”

Great to see that RSTB faves Dummy are back this morning with a new single and an album in tow. The first cut out of the crate is the bubbly, pop-forward single “Nullspace.” Propelled by a shaggy rhythm and carbonated keys, the song snips the best bits of the 90s jangle n’ gaze and blends them into a potent bit of dub-drenched pop. Acoustic strums pepper in the mix and the song winds up a layered cake of dayglo joy. The band stood on solid ground on their debut, firmly in grasp of the sounds and scenes they were culling from, but on the upcoming Free Energy, they’ve begun to turn their tributes into something more manifest, a sound that’s assured as it is infectious. The new album is out September 6th from Trouble In Mind.
