Chime School – “Give Your Heart Away”

Chime School’s last record spent considerable time on the speakers around here, so it comes with no shortage of excitement that a new album is announced today. Still bringing that namesake chime to the forefront, the first single looks back through the gauzy veneer of the past, glazing memories with rosy hues that might have dimmed in their own age but shine like diamonds out of reach these days. The song slinks into and out of view with an off-time intro/outro before the riffs kick in. Pastalaniec expands on the sound that was begun on the debut and continues through 2023’s Slumberland short-format stunner. The new record is shaping up to be a jangle-pop front-runner for the year.
